"Being a painter has given me a different way to see the world, life and what surrounds me. When I am painting I immerse myself in the total experience of creating a moment caught in time." Gwen Hanson resides in Hawaiʻi on a hillside overlooking beautiful Kāneʻohe Bay. The breathtaking view inspires many of her paintings in oil using the painting knife. Acrylic, watercolor, collage and silk dyeing have also been mediums of choice.
Being a resident of Hawaiʻi for many years Gwen has had the opportunity to continue her academic pursuit of art while attending the Honolulu Academy of Art and the University of Hawaiʻi Windward campus. Studies have included color theory, design, drawing, silk painting, sculpting and art history. Gwen is currently a member of Artists of Hawaii Association, Windward Artist Guild adn Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. She has shown her paintings in many juried shows around the island.
