I'm a Japanese born artist who has lived in New York for almost 30 years. My passion for drawing and painting has always been the human body - our expressions and emotions. During the pandemic, my husband and I started coming down to New Orleans, and we spent chunk of time, and I got totally fascinated by the nature of NOLA. I have never seen colors and shapes of foliage, like I’ve experienced here. And I saw these corner jungles before and after they were hit by Ida and Zeta, but they all came back like resurrection ferns. It sounds kind of silly, but I’ve been overwhelmed by my love emotions to NOLA. My journey of painting NOLA has just started from last year, and I have so much to say. These paintings are my first songs of Elysian Fields.
