'THELOSTOBJECT' is the artist moniker of Hyland Mather. Hyland has long been involved with contemporary art and street culture as the owner of Andenken Gallery, and gallery curator at STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam. As an artist, he is known for collecting materials - which he calls 'Lost Objects' - and assembling them in a variety of interesting and playful ways - from abandoned paper collage pieces & recovered drop cloth canvas works, to large scale street pieces and indoor murals. Color, composition, form, text, and a thrill of the challenge of using whatever is in his path or can be hunted 'in the wilds' of urban or rural settings are all contributing and important characteristics of his work and have helped to develop his unique signature ‘Lost Object’ style.
