Ivy Wu's artwork is abstract and gestural; it vibrates with almost explosive color and line. Channeling her creative energy often onto large-scale surfaces, she manipulates paint rapidly and intuitively. Her inspiration ranges from nature to personal narrative. The complexity of lived experiences lies at the heart of her practice. Rooted in her artistic imagination and practice is a kind of automatic painting (or blind drawing) employing both stable and unstable shapes and colors.
