Jacques Gabriel (1934–1988) was a Haitian painter born in Port-au-Prince who became a member of the Foyer des Arts Plastiques in 1954. He studied watercolor with Alex Jeanty, drawing with Néhémy Jean, and oil painting with Dieudonné Cédor and Dorcely, developing a refined modernist style distinguished by disciplined composition and vibrant color.Gabriel exhibited in Haiti and Europe, and his work is documented in major reference books on Haitian art. Gérald Alexis described his paintings as combining "rigor and clear colors" with a strong artistic personality. Today, Jacques Gabriel's paintings are appreciated by collectors for their technical mastery and important contribution to modern Haitian art.
