ACRYLIC & SAND ON CANVAS NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA I paint with the intention of cultivating peace and calm within a chaotic world. My abstract work explores connection—between people, places, and inner emotional landscapes—moving from raw feeling toward stillness. Each painting functions as both a personal grounding practice and an offering to the viewer: a space where presence and connection can be felt rather than explained. Working under the studio name Stilhyr, I use acrylics of varying viscosities and coarse sand to build layered, tactile surfaces that evoke memory, landscape, and energy. Shaped by a lifelong relationship with the coast, my process is informed by rhythm, erosion, and movement. Gradients, geometric forms, and repeated lines emerge intuitively, translating emotional flow into structured calm. Each piece is created as a moment of pause. In a world defined by speed and constant transition, the work offers visual stillness—an atmosphere of quiet reflection where connection, balance, and emotional clarity can take hold.
