Jaime Corum's equine portraiture captures the conformation and the spirit of the horse through an understanding informed by years of experience in equine sports. A proud Kentuckian, she spent her formative years partly in the saddle and the rest of her time painting and drawing horses. From this hands-on experience and years of focused practice, she developed her artistic eye and skill for capturing her equine subjects. Corum approaches each portrait with a thorough foundation and understanding of equine physicality and movement, allowing her to meticulously execute each rendering. She animates the piece with the intangible quality of the horse's character, capturing the essence of each equine subject. Corum received her MFA from The University of Kentucky and fine-tuned her art while teaching at the collegiate level. As her career progressed, she returned to her mountain studio home, where she paints full time and continues to emerge into the international sporting art marketplace. Collectors of her work span across the US, Canada, and the UK. Her paintings first arrived in the Keeneland Sporting Arts Auction in 2018. They have been featured in multiple publications and programs, including Keeneland Magazine and Equestrian Living. Much of her current work is upon commission by the connections of some of the most accomplished equine athletes of our time.
