Joanne Tarlin paints semi-abstract symbolic landscapes in her studio in Harpswell, Maine, where she moved in 2019 from Massachusetts. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University, Boston, MA and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. She is the President of the Union of Maine Visual Artists and in this role she works within the community to advocate for artists and help fulfill the organization’s mission to facilitate the ability for artists to help each other. Her work has been featured in NE Home Magazine, and is in corporate, museum, and private collections. She exhibits her work regionally. Recent exhibitions include: a solo show, Turbulence, Fragility, Resilience at the Maine Jewish Museum, Portland, ME, and participation in juried shows: Washed Away, Portland Library Gallery, Portland, ME and Landscapes of the Heart: from Abstraction to Verismo, Craignair Gallery, Spruce Head, ME.
