John F. Enser (Ennis, TX, 1898 - 1968, New Ipswich, NH) Enser, John F. 1898-1968. San Antonio. Painter, commercial artist, teacher, illustrator, graphic artist, car-toonist.Enser was born in Ennis and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Academy of Fine Arts, Chicago. He was a student of Hermann Dudley Murphy and José Arpa. 9Y Early in his career, Enser was a cartoonist and illustrator and taught for a time at Boston University. He was a resident of Concord, Massachusetts, in 1934 where he taught in the public schools; in the 1940s, he resided in Lexington, Massachusetts, where he taught at Middlesex School.He retained for a time a Texas domicile. He lived afterward in New Hampshire where he was known as the"Mount Monadnock Painter."
