Jonathan Prince is an American artist renowned for his large-scalesculptures in steel and granite. With studios in Brussels, Belgium, and astate-of-the-art studio in the Berkshires of Massachusetts,Prince creates works reflecting his wide-ranging interests in science,technology, and spirituality. His pieces, often monumental, represent acontinuous exploration of material, form, and scale. Often characterized bysharp contrasts between oxidized CorTen steel and mirror-polishedstainless steel, his works explore the tension between perfectedgeometries and chaotic breaks, reflecting the dualities inherent in life. Bornin New York City, Prince’s artistic journey began at age 12 when heapprenticed with French-American cubist sculptor Jacques Lipchitz.This early experience of transforming matter into meaning has stayed withhim throughout his diverse career. Prince began as a maxillofacial surgeon,then transitioned to film production and next as founder and chairman of aventure backed media technology company. Returning to sculpture in2002, he established a world-class art fabrication facility at his Berkshireshome and studio.Prince collaborates closely with his wife and business partner, StephanieManasseh, a renowned Canadian curator and art advisor. Together, theydeveloped Berkshire House as a creative hub for community engagement,later expanding this concept to Maison Berkshire in Brussels. Stephanieplays a crucial role as Studio Director, working hand-in-hand with Jonathanto manage the studio and all of its activities.His work has been exhibited in multiple public spaces, including two showsat Christie’s Sculpture Garden, 590 Madison Avenue Sculpture Garden,Pier 64 Hudson River Park, and Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. Additionally, hiswork has been acquired for both private and public collections, includingthe Eli and Edith Broad Museum at MSU, the Joseph M. Cohen FamilyCollection, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Julie and Edward J.Minskoff Collection, his work is is part of the Nader Sculpture Park inMiami.
