Jono Wright (born 1978), is a contemporary figurative painter whose work weaves symbolism, memory, and mythology into contemplative narratives. Drawing on a disciplined, detail-focused practice, he creates layered compositions where botanical forms and human figures merge in moments of transformation. His paintings explore coming of age, vulnerability, and the unseen forces that shape identity. Rooted in personal introspection yet reaching toward universal archetypes, Wright’s work invites viewers into a slow, reflective encounter. Through a palette of luminous, often somber tones, he gives form to what lies hidden beneath the surface of everyday life. He received his BFA from MSU Denver and his MFA from LSU. His work has been exhibited nationally in Denver, New York and New Orleans and internationally in Sarajevo, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Bogota, Columbia and Bethlehem, Palestine. His work has been featured in Art Maze Magazine’s Winter issue #6 and the I like your Work 2024 Winter Catalogue. He has attended residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Sachaque Centro de Arte in Peru and Taleamor Park in Indiana.
