Born on October 22, 1961, in Paris, Joseph currently resides and works in the South of France. Active in the art world since 1985, he is a part of the dynamic new wave of artists who emerged in response to the 1970s' radical movements. Deeply influenced by popular mass culture symbols, Joseph engages in a dialogue-driven approach through his art.Educated in architecture at EDPI and graphic arts at Sornas school, Joseph further honed his skills at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, focusing on painting and drawing. His passion often led him to explore Parisian museums rather than stick to the classrooms of Rue Bonaparte. He draws inspiration from the New Realists, especially Hains and Villeglé, but it was his encounter with Antoni Tapiès that became a pivotal influence in his career.Joseph is intrigued by the fundamental role of pigments and pastes in artistic expression. His works reflect a deep exploration of visual art mediums, utilizing and transforming old papers to comment on contemporary culture. He embodies a unique artistic vision, recognizing the moment when reason begins to perceive the world anew.
