Julian Montague is an artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and photographer based in Buffalo. His artwork includes a wide range of mediums and approaches, from long term conceptual projects to geometric abstraction. He has work in the collections of the Buffalo AKG Museum, Martin Z. Margulies, the Norton Museum of Art, the Progressive Insurance Company, and numerous private collections. A mid-career retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in 2023. In 2021 The New York Times recommended his Instagram account (180K followers) as one of the top art accounts to follow. A revised edition of Montague's 2006 book The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification was published by The University of Chicago Press in 2023. As an artist/designer he has collaborated with global clients including Continental Tires, Maison Kitsune, Moncler, Monotype, Sonos, and Warby Parker.
