Julián Terán (b. 1977, La Plata, Argentina) is a contemporary visual artist based in Buenos Aires, known for his disciplined exploration of line, repetition, and conceptual structure in drawing and mixed media. He graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires and further refined his approach through workshops with artists such as Fabiana Barreda and Rodrigo Alonso, integrating rigorous formal investigation with intuitive rhythm and mark-making.Terán’s work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including Reverberating Aesthetics at Artemisa Gallery (New York) and shows at cultural institutions such as the Centro Cultural San Martínand Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, as well as the Museo Municipal Urbano Poggi in Rafaela, Santa Fe. He has also participated in museum group exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario (MACRO) and the Museo Castagnino in Buenos Aires. In 2011 he completed several major projects, including an extensive solo exhibition at the Museo J.R. Vidal in Corrientes and a large-scale mural at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (MAMBA).His work has also been featured in prominent art fairs and gallery contexts, including Art on Paper New York, PINTA Miami, and ArteBA, placing him in dialogue with contemporary practices across the Americas. Terán’s drawings and installations demonstrate a sustained engagement with structure, rhythm, and visual intensity, often creating immersive experiences through layers of repetition and formal clarity. His pieces are collected internationally in both private and institutional collections, reflecting his growing presence in contemporary art contexts.Terán’s work resonates with audiences for its balance of precision and poetry, using line and form to articulate a language that is at once meditative and dynamic, rooted in both Latin American artistic traditions and global contemporary discourse.
