Puʻuwai Pele (“Heart of Pele”), is on view at the SHANGHAI-Liu Haisu Art Museum from January 15 through February 5, 2026. Julie Scheyer is currently exhibiting her artwork in Shanghai, China as part of the Shangahi and Hawaiʻi Island Art Alliance’s 15th Annual Abstract Only Juried exhibition. Note: In the published “Abstract Only” book, my name had a typo Julie Sheyer (no c) Artist Bio Julie Scheyer is a multidisciplinary artist creating sculptural resin and fiberglass wall works for gallery, architectural, and institutional settings. Her practice focuses on dimensional, hand-shaped forms with layered translucency that shift with depth, light, and movement—inviting prolonged viewing and discovery over time. Unlike flat paintings, Scheyer’s works are fully three-dimensional, shaped by hand and engineered for structural integrity at architectural scale. The surfaces reveal complex internal patterns and optical depth that evolve as light changes throughout the day, giving the work a sense of quiet motion and presence. Many palettes are inspired by the ocean, where Scheyer spends time as a competitive wing-foil athlete crossing open channels between Hawaiian islands. These experiences inform a visual language of flowing blues and greens balanced with accents of gold and coral—expressing serenity, resilience, and renewal. Scheyer brings a background in chemical engineering and project management from her career at Intel Corporation, where she led complex, cross-disciplinary initiatives and was awarded a U.S. patent. This technical foundation allows her to approach large-scale resin and fiberglass works with precision, durability, and material confidence. Her artworks are lightweight yet structurally sound, with smooth resin surfaces that can be dusted and disinfected—qualities that make them well-suited for healthcare, corporate, and public environments. She is actively expanding her portfolio through public art and institutional projects and values collaborative, mission-aligned installations that serve both aesthetic and community needs. ⸻ Gallery Representation • Desert Valley Gallery
