Jūratė Kazakevičiūtė (b. 1974, Druskininkai, Lithuania) is a textile and object artist whose practice spans more than two decades. She lives and works in Druskininkai. A graduate of the Vilnius Academy of Arts (BA in Textile, 2000; MA in Arts, 2002), Kazakevičiūtė is recognized for her distinctive visual language and bold use of soft sculptural forms. Her work explores the materiality of textiles and engages with themes of femininity, identity, and the cultural codes embedded in everyday life. Incorporating threads, non-woven fabrics, nylons, and soft materials, she employs sewing, crocheting, and stuffing techniques in what she calls her “soft sculpture technique.” The resulting creations often form intricate systems that evoke a symbiosis between the human body and the natural world, especially plants. Kazakevičiūtė has been actively participating in Lithuanian and international exhibitions since 1999, with presentations in Italy, France, Germany, Latvia, Sweden, and Poland. She is a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and LATGA. Among her distinctions are the Audience Prize at the Textile Art Biennial (2014) for her work Magnolia and the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum Award for Best Artwork of the Year (2010).
