Kate believes in the power of aesthetics to pull us from our sometimes numbed states into ceremony with the abundant beauty that is around us and is, in fact, us. She paints as a way to imbibe this beauty with joyful celebration of color and aliveness. She enjoys traveling to different locations and capturing the feeling of that moment in time- the smells, the sounds, the people passing by- on canvas. She hopes that you experience this pause, a sort of liminal space, captured in each piece. Most importantly, that they bring a smile to your heart. Kate grew up painting and making art on the floor of her father’s studio in Raleigh, NC. Her first experience painting on location was with him on St. Barts when she was 12 years old. She’s been painting ever since.
