To put it simply, Kate has been surrounded by artists and beauty her entire life. Her mother, sister, aunt and grandmothers are all painters, So as one could imagine, appreciating and studying art was instilled from very early age. In high school, she was certain that she would go on to study Fashion Design, but thankfully the Lord had other plans. Kate landed at the College of Charleston, with a major in Studio Arts. To graduate, she had to take a painting class, something she intentionally had until then avoided. Needless to say, she fell in love. The colors, the messes made and the beauty created made her excited each day to be in the studio. A couple of years into painting full-time, her mother encouraged her to paint flowers, something else she intentionally avoided. As mothers normally are, her mother was correct! She deeply loves painting each and every flower and it is something that she doubts she'll ever tire of. “I never set out to be a painter, ever, but I'm so grateful that it's what I get to do everyday.”
