Pretti believes a painting can recreate an emotive state.Even if her subject isn’t immediately recognizable, she wants you to feel something.Pretti holds a master’s degree in Contemporary Art, Design & New Media Art Histories fromOCAD University. Her continued research — focused on the history of abstraction and itsrelationship with emotive expression, sublimation of trauma, and transcendental pursuits —informs her visual practice.Outside several visual arts residencies, Pretti has independently held studios in Brooklyn, LosAngeles, and Buenos Aires. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has appeared onbook covers, album art, and commissioned interior murals. Her book, Sonority of Words, waslaunched by Art Metropole, featured at the NYC Art Book Fair, and added to the Artists’ BooksLibrary at the National Gallery of Canada.
