Ken “Dusty” Dust is an Oregon artist whose wildlife creations merge the precision of a naturalist with the passion of an angler. An accomplished fly dresser, fisherman, and artist, Dust combines his deep knowledge of the natural world with fine artistic detail, producing paintings and fly-tying exhibitions that celebrate both art and sport. His work often explores the early history and evolution of fly tying—from its origins in the 13th century to the refined techniques of today. Many of his pieces pay tribute to long-forgotten fly patterns and materials, preserving their artistry through contemporary interpretation. Working primarily in colored pencil, Dust achieves remarkable realism and texture in his renderings of flies, fish, and aquatic life. A member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, the Audubon Society, and the Colored Pencil Society of America, Dust’s award-winning works have been exhibited nationally and are held in private collections across the country.
