Reviews include The New York Times, Art in America, Flash Art, the Brooklyn Rail, Two Coats of Paint, Whitehot Magazine and Hyperallergic. Migrating between water, sky and land, Ioannidou's work explores the relationships between movement, migration, nature and memory. Juxtaposing features from her place of origin and her country of residency, she extracts elements from her surrounding natural environment in her work, whether that is the waterfront in Brooklyn near her studio or the Mediterranean island of Cyprus where she grew up and simplifies them down to their essence: the colors, the feelings, the patterns. Florals turn to camouflage, sun rays convert to explosions and ocean waves spread like emotional ripples reflecting an inner state and the nature psychologically inside of us. Through the interplay of abstract forms, vibrant colors, and layered compositions, Ioannidou’s work invites us into a realm of ethereal fluidity and introspection
