Often referred to as magical or allegorical realism, Kevin Sloan’s work strives to momentarily release us from our modern technological environment into a realm of symbolism, mythology, the poetic and the beautiful. “Often lush, sometimes stark and theatrical, my "allegorical realism" paintings start a conversation about our relationship with nature in this modern, technological and quickly changing era.” - Kevin Sloan Kevin received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Temple University and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Arizona. He has had numerous one-man and group shows, including Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, “An Artist and a Naturalist: John James Audubon and Kevin Sloan”, “Magical Realism: A New Generation” at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, Pueblo, CO, “A Collection of Rarities” at California Museum of Art, Thousand Oaks, CA, and most recently “Radiant Season” at Denver Botanical Gardens. His award winning work is in numerous public collections including: Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM, The Tampa Museum of Art, The Phoenix Museum of Art, Chase Manhattan Bank, Hallmark Corp, the University of California, The Tucson Museum of Art, McDonalds Corp, Princess Cruise Lines. Sloan’s work hangs in the Four Seasons Hotel, Scottsdale, AZ, the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas, NV & St. Regis Hotel, Dana Point, CA. Kevin Sloan’s exhibitions at Gardner Colby have been prominently featured many times in American Art Collector magazine. His work was chosen to be included in the book “New American Paintings, Number 36”, published by The Open Studios Press, and has been featured in Review, Art-Talk, and Southwest Art publications.
