North Carolina-based artist Kim Gibbs creates incredibly textural paintings. She pushes, pulls, sprays, and throws her oil paint onto the canvas. It’s an emotive process, like dancing, that she uses to connect to the place and feel of her subject matter. Her work is done in series, exploring various subjects from figures to florals.Kim Gibbs lives and works in Charlotte, NC. She is an eleven-year resident artist of the Dilworth Artisan Station located in the vibrant South End neighborhood. Kim’s paintings have been commissioned for the Hilton Garden Inn in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and the Susan G Komen House. Among her many accomplishments, Kim is particularly proud to have had her artwork featured on the website of UK-based health research organization Evidently Cochrane and to have her work commissioned for installment at the Wellstar Hospital Holly Springs location.Recently she finished a month long residency in Ireland where she explored a new series and showed her work.
