Kristopher Wright (b. 1991, Denver, CO) is an American artist known for vibrant, large-scalepaintings that examine moments of celebration, togetherness, joy, and loss within contemporaryAmerican life.Blending painting, screen printing, and collage, Wright’s practice creates layered visualnarratives that explore storytelling, familial bonds, and the persistence of living memory. Hiswork draws from personal histories while incorporating elements of drawing, photography, machine diagrams, maintenance manuals, and bold color blocking. These varied sourcesintersect to form compositions that invite viewers to make their own associations, promptingreflection on how collective memory shapes identity and experience.Wright earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014, where he studiedpainting, printmaking, and art education. His work has been exhibited nationally, including his debut solo exhibitionJust As I Am at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in 2022 and his inaugural soloexhibition with K Contemporary, Rock, Salt & Nails, in 2024. Additional exhibitions include groupshows at SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.Wright’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum and the Art Bankin McCook, Nebraska.
