Cuban-American, Seattle based artist Laura Castellanos was born in Manhattan, grew up on Long Island and moved to Miami in 1979. In 1984, she received a ‘Marty Colker’ visual art scholarship while attending Florida International University. Her work is part of several public art collections, including the Tacoma Art Museum, City of Seattle Permanent Collection and Seattle City Lights Portable Works Collection. Other highlights include: the Bumbershoot Poster, Civic Fence Project, display at the Amazon One building in downtown Seattle and televised features on the Seattle Channel such as “Art Zone” and Town Hall’s “Inside Art”. Recent solo exhibitions include, “Assorted Idols” at Moses Lake Museum & Art Center and “Borrowed Tribe” at Gallery 4Culture. Laura is an awardee of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner award and an Artist Trust GAP grant recipient.
