LuAnn Ostergaard’s artwork is a practice of transformation—an alchemy of light and texture. Working with digital imagery, she creates layered compositions that blend luminosity, decay, and surface to reflect an inner journey: the valleys we endure, the light we carry, and the unseen forces that guide us home. Rooted in the Pacific Northwest and shaped by a lifetime of resilience, her work honors the beauty in imperfection, the sacred in the ordinary, and the healing energy that moves through all living things. Ostergaard often uses found objects and richly layered photographs printed with pigment inks on fine art cotton paper, mounting and hand-texturing each piece to give it a distinct physical presence. “Every image I capture and use is a conversation—between past and future, shadow and light, the visible and the invisible,” she says. Through this process, she pays homage to her lineage of artists, musicians, and craftsmen, and to the quiet strength of those who transmute pain into beauty. Her art serves as a visual channel for energy, emotion, and spiritual remembering—a reminder that even in our most weathered places, light still finds a way through. Ostergaard’s hope is that viewers come away from her work with a renewed sense of awe at the beauty revealed in forgotten places. All of LuAnn Ostergaard’s pieces are finished with a UV/UVV-protective sealant that prevents fading and preserves the vibrancy of her work over time. She even has pieces in her personal studio that have been displayed in direct sunlight for years, still showing no visible signs of fading.
