Luciana Levinton (b. 1977, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a contemporary visual artist and architect whose work transforms architectural form into vibrant painterly abstraction. She earned her architecture degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU UBA) in 2004, and her background in design and structure is fundamental to her artistic language, which blurs interiors, floor plans, facades, and built spaces into energized, poetic compositions.Levinton’s work has been shown extensively in both solo and group exhibitions across Latin America, Europe, and the United States, reflecting her international reach and sustained engagement with contemporary art dialogues. Selected solo exhibitions include Después de la Arquitectura at the Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo in Buenos Aires (2020), site-specific presentations at Art Basel Cities Buenos Aires (2018), and La articulación de un centro inhabitado at the Marq Architecture Museum, curated by Lara Marmor (2017). She has also exhibited in São Paulo, Milan, Paris, New York, and Berlin.Levinton has been the recipient of multiple awards and distinctions, including honors from the National Salon Fundación Banco Nación Argentina (2015), the Central Society of Architects (2006, 2008), and the Borges Cultural Center (2005), affirming her artistic excellence within Argentina’s cultural landscape. Her pieces have been acquired for institutional collections, including the MACBA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires), and her work has appeared in curated exhibitions such as Habitat at Museo MACBA.Levinton’s painting practice interweaves architecture, color, and abstraction. Through dynamic brushwork and layered perspectives, she creates environments that feel at once constructed and dreamlike, inviting viewers into imagined spaces where urban energy and formal rhythm coexist. Her works articulate a rich dialogue between structural logic and painterly intuition, establishing her as a significant voice in contemporary Argentine art.
