Mallory Agerton paints realist landscapes and abstracts that inspire the mind and renew the spirit. Agerton relies on observation, her own drawings, imagination and memory to create her paintings. Instead of working from photographs, she uses her own field studies and is able to distill the essence of a scene and a evoke a sense of place. She enjoys using both direct and indirect methods of painting- that is, using both opaque and transparent paint. In May of 2015, Agerton graduated from the Landscape Atelier Program with master artist Deborah Paris. She received a BFA from the University of Texas in Austin and later studied at the Art Students League in New York City under Robert Beverly Hale and David Leffel. She has also studied with landscape artists Kim English, Brian Blood, Michael Workman and Skip Whitcomb. In 2015, her work was included in the Oil Painters of America Western Regional Show, The National Oil and Acrylic Painters "Best of America Show," and in a group show at the Hawthorne Gallery in New York City. Recently, she exhibited in The Salon International at The Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio, The National Juried Show at the Buchanan Gallery in Galveston, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City. In the fall of 2015, she won a Merit Award from the International Online Showcase of The National Oil and Acrylic Painters. Mallory Agerton currently resides in West Texas.
