Mario Arroyave (b. 1983, Espinal, Colombia) is a contemporary artist whose work bridges photography, visual repetition, and conceptual inquiry into time, space, and human interaction. His approach to image-making began empirically at age 13 while studying systems engineering and advertising, and in 2010 he formally launched his artistic career, first exhibiting at The Warehouse Art Gallery (now SGR Gallery) in Bogotá. Since then, Arroyave has built an international presence with solo and group exhibitions in major cultural centers including Bogotá, Medellín, Lima, São Paulo, Miami, Dallas, New York, Tokyo and Mexico City, reflecting his rising recognition on the contemporary art scene.Arroyave’s practice is rooted in the intersection of physics, computing concepts, and human perception. Through series such as Timeline and Human Fabric, he explores visual repetition as a metaphor for time, capturing social and archetypal patterns by placing figures within seemingly vacant or expanded spaces where time dissolves. His work blurs the boundary between micro- and macro-experience, inviting introspection on identity, interaction, and the continuity of perception. His pieces have been presented in solo exhibitions such as De la Dualidad a la Unidad at MAIA Contemporary in Mexico City and Time Transmission at Artemisa Gallery in New York, as well as numerous group shows including the 77th International Photographic Salon of Japan, Bienal de Arte de Bogotá, and important fairs like Dallas Art Fair and ArtBO in Bogotá. Arroyave’s work is included in private and international collections and demonstrates a sustained engagement with both conceptual rigor and visual impact.
