Melody Epperson, a Colorado native, is a full-time artist specializing in encaustic and cold wax painting. With a BFA in Communication Design and advanced studies in Integrated Arts at Goddard College and Columbia College, she exhibits her artwork at D’art Gallery in Denver as well as NKollectiv. Melody has collaborated with organizations such as Denver Arts and Venues and Redline Arts, curating projects such as “Vote NO Vote” and receiving accolades like the Mac Arthur Goodwin Award (2021) and Denver’s P.S. You Are Here Grant (2023). Her work has been featured in several museums including the Loveland Museum and Colorado Women’s Art Museum. Melody is committed to lifelong learning, studying under masters in her field and exploring the intersection of art and humanity. “My art is born from my innate curiosity. I'm fascinated by what it means to be human, therefore my art focuses on themes like connection, meaning and loss. I often start with a question or curiosity, spend time researching and wondering, and finally, create something. Through this improvised exploration of media, I delve into layers of meaning, recognizing parallels between the sensuality and fragility of wax and the multifaceted nature of my womanhood—resilient yet delicate, enduring yet ephemeral, much like the skin I inhabit.”
