Melva Rue was born in Seattle and lived in the Northwest for some years. She majored in Fine Arts at University of Washington, taking special courses under Professor Isaacs. She also studied music, working toward being a concert pianist. But Art won out and for the past twelve years she has devoted herself to painting. Ten years ago she moved to Corona del Mar and has lived there ever since. A trip to Paris two years ago started her on the road to painting the Parisian Street Scenes, which she found most interesting. Having lived in the Northwest for so many years she found the ‘moody’ element of the country of great interest and for the past two or three years has devoted herself to portraying these ‘moods.’ Miss Rue’s work is handled by the Acosta Gallery in Beverly Hills.” Source:
