(1953 - ) Michael Nisperos was born in Glendale, California. He was educated at Los Angeles Valley College and then spent two years studying in the Fine Arts Program at California State University. After receiving a scholarship at California State University, he furthered his education by studying at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He gained professional experience as a designer for an international art corporation and for an art wholesale manufacturer. Nisperos is an abstract and figural expressionist. His works have been called, "Sculptures of canvas." They offer a fresh vision into the meaning of the human experience, capturing through his energetic imagery the elusive subject of emotion. Fascinated and influenced by primitive artifacts, Nisperos imbues every brush stroke with passion. The diversity of subjective and non-subjective images, combined with the artist's hatching away of layers of paint with his palette knife, reveals tremendous vitality. We are witness to the recording process, taking part in Nisperos' questions and discoveries addressed in each piece. Michael Nisperos' works have been published in several highly regarded publications, such as ARTnews, Art in America, Norma Burba Trulsson, Palm Springs Life, The Phoenix Gazette, and The Arizona Republic. In addition, Nisperos has been a recipient of the Masters Award for a painting at the Armand Hammer Museum of Fine Art and Cultural Center, and has lectured in China at several art studios. The artist's provocative work, embedded with social commentary, hangs in private and corporate collections internationally.*
