I am a contemporary quiltmaker living just outside the Nation’s capital. Growing up in the ‘80s and early ‘90s heavily influenced my use of color. With their bold neons, rich earth tones and elegant pastels, these decades left their vibrant mark on me. The significance of perseverance, resilience, and learning from mistakes inspires my relentless pursuit in the studio. Like Edison, I have not failed, I just found a thousand ways to make things work. I cut up solid cotton fabric, sew it together and cut it again. My work consists of hundreds of small pieces, sewn together to create large compositions for the wall. My background in biomedical sciences influences my approach to quilting. I recently started working in a series about my broken vertebrae, how they support my head and neck and allow movement and overall stability, or not. I am fascinated how my quilts are each unique but also speak to each other.
