Born Thierry Guetta in France, Mr. Brainwash is a Los Angeles-based Pop and street artist who has exhibited all over the world, collaborated with brands and film, and created album covers for Madonna and Rick Ross. Starting as a mysterious and provocative figure, Mr. Brainwash rose to fame after featuring himself in the acclaimed 2010 movie "Exit Through the Gift Shop." The film followed his transition from a vintage clothing store owner and amateur videographer to a major street artist by working with fellow artists Banksy, his cousin Invader, and Shepard Fairey. Mr. Brainwash's work is playful and subversive, using and reusing imagery from popular artists such as Warhol, Haring, and Koons in his own unique sculptures and compositions that often layer screen prints with paints and other media. The result is art that celebrates positivity and love, invoking elements of contemporary culture and art history that transcend nationality. Mr. Brainwash inaugurated The Mr. Brainwash Art Museum in 2022 as the only museum created and run by a living artist, located in Beverly Hills.
