Nancy and her husband, Carroll, moved to Hawaiʻi from San Francisco in 1968. They raised five daughters in the islands and in addition to parenting Nancy was a professional businesswoman until 2005. During that time, she worked at several different entities including Bank of Hawaiʻi, Aloha Festivals, The East-West Center and in the technology field, hotU. Upon semi-retirement, and with the persistent encouragement of longtime friend and artist Peggy Chun, Nancy began to pursue a lifelong interest in art. Her fist formal instruction with George Woollard during a two-week workshop in Umbria, Italy in May 2005. Since then, Nancy has taken additional classes from Mr. Woolard and Anthony Lee as well as a number of workshops from mainland artists such as Robert Burridge. Her work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibits in Hawaii and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts purchased one of Nancyʻs paintings for the Stateʻs permanent collection. Nancyʻs primary focus has been on watercolors in which she emphasizes vibrant natural earth colors. Her work has been purchased both in Hawaiʻi and by individuals on the mainland and hangs in both homes and businesses. Nancy currently is a member of, and serves on the board of the Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society.
