Born in Ontario in 1971, Nathan Bartley is a Canadian visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores the interplay between inner experience, the natural world, and symbolic language. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Guelph and has developed his body of work over more than twenty-five years through a process rooted in contemplation, disciplined gesture, and a sustained engagement with spiritual inquiry. His visual language—shaped through extended periods of creation in Japan, British Columbia, the Yukon, Montreal, and South India—combines drawing, ink, painting, and calligraphy.
