Osvaldo González Aguiar is a Cuban contemporary artist known for his innovative use of tape, light, and pigment to create immersive spatial environments that challenge perception and redefine the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation. His work explores themes of space, memory, and transformation, often turning ordinary materials into poetic reflections on fragility and impermanence. A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, González is part of Cuba’s new generation of conceptual artists. His practice is grounded in process and experimentation—layering colored tape on Plexiglas or walls to construct translucent compositions that manipulate light and depth. These luminous “paintings” transform architecture itself into a sensory experience.González has exhibited widely in Cuba, Europe, and the United States, including at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Havana), Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam, and ARCO Madrid. His work is included in major public and private collections, celebrated for its originality and material innovation. He currently lives and works in Havana, continuing to expand his visual language through installations and site-specific projects that bridge material, space, and emotion.
