Osy Milian, born Osailys Ávila Milián, is a visually expressive painter whose work blends figurative elements with theatrical, often surreal staging. She completed her early artistic training at the José Antonio Díaz Peláez Elementary School of Visual Arts (2006), followed by the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts (2011), and earned her B.A. in Visual Arts from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana in 2016. Milian’s paintings are noted for their bright, pop-infused color palette and imagery that merges advertising iconography, fashion, comics, and dreamlike vignettes. Her compositions feature figures, animals, and symbolic objects arranged in theatrical or stage-like tableaux that evoke both narrative and surrealism. This aesthetic bridges themes between art and consumption, questioning symbolic codes and exploring their intersection with pop culture and desire.
