Pablo Lehmann (b. 1974, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a contemporary artist known for his intricately constructed paper and mixed-media works that transform language into sculptural form. Working at the intersection of text, image, and object, Lehmann uses excerpts of printed material, book pages, canvas, and synthetic cloth to create layered cutouts, reliefs, and installations that explore the physicality of language and the spatial possibilities of written form. His work ventures beyond representation, blending geometry, structure, and poetic abstraction in pieces that feel both cerebral and tactile.Lehmann has exhibited internationally in both solo and group presentations. His work has been shown at venues such as Black Square Gallery in Miami, Galería Matthei in Chile, Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, and Casa Ensamble in Bogotá. He was also featured in the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial at the Sharjah Art Museum in the UAE (2016) and the Paper Biennial Rijswijk at the Rijswijk Museum in the Netherlands (2014), underscoring his engagement with global dialogues around text and visual form.Lehmann’s practice has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Gran Premio del Salón Nacional and honors from the Salón Nacional del Bicentenario, reinforcing his stature within contemporary Latin American art. His work is held in several institutional and private collections, including the Palais de Glace and the Museo Timoteo Navarro in Argentina.Throughout his career, Lehmann has also presented ambitious installations such as The Scribe’s House, a site-specific environment showcased at Art on Paper New York (2017) that transformed architectural space through dense networks of words and cut forms. His work is celebrated for its technical precision, conceptual depth, and the way it reimagines the poetic potential of language as material.
