Paul Henderson paints prolifically, weaving his vision into ongoing series that reflect both a restless creativity and his deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. A lifelong resident of the region, Paul grew up surrounded by towering evergreens, rugged coastlines, and mountain ranges that have shaped not only his outlook but also the spirit of his art. His journey began at the age of eight, when he couldn’t resist doodling on classroom paper—a habit that grew into a lifelong passion. Over the past forty years, that spark has evolved into a body of work that spans realism, abstraction, fantasy, and semi-abstract explorations. For Paul, variety is not just a preference—it is a philosophy. “Variety is the spice of life,” he often says, and his portfolio proves it. His paintings unfold in series that invite viewers into different worlds: Moods of Highway 101 captures the shifting atmospheres of the iconic coastal route; Roslyn, WA and the Cascades pays homage to the historic town and surrounding peaks; Pisces of the Sea transforms fish into abstract, flowing forms; Iconic NW American Indian paintings honor cultural inspiration; and Northwest Wine celebrates the region’s vineyards with vibrant expression. Each series is a testament to his ability to see the extraordinary in the everyday and to translate it into art that resonates. While acrylics are his primary medium, Paul is also known for his inventive use of “100% COFFEE on watercolor paper”—a technique that has drawn national attention. His coffee paintings were featured on Evening Magazine on KING TV in Seattle and highlighted in a national publication, underscoring his willingness to experiment and push boundaries. Paul’s work has found homes across the United States and internationally, with much of his reach coming through online galleries. Recently, he has expanded his focus to marketing his art to interior decorators, corporations, hospitality venues, and the health industry, where his pieces bring warmth, character, and a sense of place to professional spaces. “I love to express my art in many ways—after all, variety is the spice of life! Every brushstroke is influenced by the landscapes and culture of the Northwest, where I have lived all my life. From realism to abstraction, from fantasy to semi-abstract, my paintings are a reflection of both the world around me and the imagination within. For over forty years, I have sought to capture not just images, but moods, emotions, and stories that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect.” -- Paul Henderson To shop for prints of Paul's artwork in various sizes and materials, click HERE.
