Peter Deise is an artist whose work is deeply influenced by his unique background, having been born near the sea and raised by a biologist mother and an electrical engineer father. This upbringing, which included looking at life through a microscope from the age of three, instilled a sense of wonder that has played a major role in his artistic endeavor. For over twenty years, Deise has studied the relationship of art and nature through his writings, drawings, paintings, and sculpture. He effortlessly intertwines a love of science and nature with his art, drawing the viewer into his world of curiosities. His sculpture embraces duality: creating immense forms of raw steel, where large curves mimic ocean waves, and shaping intricate, fire-heated, and hand-tied components that resemble the veins of a leaf. He continuously adapts to the seasons, absorbing information from nature and pushing the elemental and physical boundaries of steel to express his evolving perspective.
