Phil Luangrath was born in Laos and immigrated to the United States in 1980. He studied fine art at California State University, Long Beach, graduating in 1991. Trained as an artist, Luangrath’s practice has consistently bridged drawing, design, and fabrication, informed by extensive travel and long standing collaboration with international artisans. His work reflects a sustained engagement with material culture, precision, and global craft traditions. Favio Landeira was born in Argentina and moved to the United States at age eighteen. His early exposure to metal fabrication through his family’s factory, combined with an early interest in collectible objects and industrial design, established a foundation rooted in material fluency and mechanical process. These formative experiences continue to inform his approach to construction, surface, and form. Luangrath and Landeira began their partnership in 1996, grounded in metal fabrication and object making. Working from their Miami studio, they produce sculptural objects, functional works, and collectible designs that balance craftsmanship with conceptual clarity. Their collaborative practice has expanded over time to include jewelry and leather works, while maintaining a focus on material integrity and fabrication excellence. In recent years, the duo has increasingly directed their efforts toward a studio based art practice, positioning their work within a broader contemporary context.
