Artist Statement Rebecca Zweibel creates abstract ceramic vessels and sculptural forms that explore the interplay of structure, color, and surface. Working primarily in stoneware and earthenware, she constructs with clay slabs and develops each piece through multiple firings. Layers of underglaze and sgraffito work lend depth and rhythm to the surfaces, highlighting the tactile and visual possibilities of the medium. Her work reflects a dialogue between precision and spontaneity, inviting close engagement with form, texture, and color. Artist Bio Rebecca is a creator of contemporary ceramic sculptures making her original slab built forms. Each unique piece is decorated with slip, underglaze and terra sigillata, and then fired multiple times to achieve her desired outcome. Neither form nor decoration is planned; she works instinctively and without preconception. Her work evolves organically, informed by the interplay of form and surface.
