Resurrect StudioBrooklyn, NY – Est. 2021Artists: Jean Davis & Nancy Wu Space Gallery is thrilled to feature the Luminous Sculptures of Resurrect Studio this month. Working with century-old glass collected from New York’s shores, this Brooklyn-based artist duo transforms forgotten fragments into layered compositions that celebrate light, memory, and renewal. Visit the gallery to experience these radiant works in person. Resurrect Studio is a collaborative art practice founded by Jean Davis and Nancy Wu, emerging from a shared fascination with light, color, and the transformation of discarded materials. Rooted in Brooklyn and inspired by their beach walks collecting glass from a landfill-strewn shoreline, the duo breathes new life into salvaged fragments—what they call “indigenous gemstones”—through their signature Luminous Sculptures. Both artists come from rich, complementary backgrounds: Jean, an art therapist and visual artist trained at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts; and Nancy, with a foundation in architecture and painting, whose creative resurgence followed a profound personal loss. Their partnership is one of balance—friendship, shared grief, and a commitment to revealing beauty in the broken. At the core of their work is the Luminous Sculpture series: vertical, light-responsive compositions crafted from century-old recycled glass, stained glass, and resin. Each piece is composed intuitively, with layers poured, dripped, and fused in unpredictable, organic patterns. Often described as “3D watercolors,” the sculptures evolve with the light—morning sun, overcast skies, or dusk reflections shift their palette and glow, giving each piece a living presence. The artists describe their process as partially surrendering to a “Spirit Force”—a meditative flow where control gives way to instinct. Resurrect Studio’s work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows like Findings in New York, and group exhibitions through the Glass Art Society, Red Dot Miami (Art Basel), and museums in Costa Rica and Portugal. Their work has been featured in New Glass Review (Corning Museum), UrbanGlass Quarterly, and Art Business News. Resurrect Studio invites viewers to pause, reflect, and witness light transformed—both literally and spiritually—through the alchemy of glass, resin, and care.
