Roger Dale’s art is a vivid reflection of his personality and life experiences—rooted in optimism, a love of adventure, and nearly two decades as a wilderness guide in the Grand Canyon. His passion for the outdoors and high-energy pursuits such as rock climbing, kayaking, and backcountry skiing fuel the creativity and vitality found in his glasswork. Dale’s current Mardigras series features dynamic hot-cast glass wall reliefs composed of individually cast panels assembled into vibrant, sculptural compositions. Each panel contains hundreds of intricate colored glass elements, created using Italian hot-glass techniques and poured from molten glass gathered directly from the furnace. His blown glass works similarly celebrate bright color, movement, and form. Guided by a belief in “form over function,” Dale creates pieces that radiate energy and invite the viewer’s eye to flow continuously across their luminous surfaces.
