Roni Nicole Henderson-Day is a Columbia, SC-based writer, filmmaker, and photographer. She earned her MFA in Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design and was the recipient of the A. Gregory Peeler Fellowship for Graduate Study. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and film festivals across the country and internationally including Spelman Museum of Fine Art, Leonard Pearlstein Gallery at Drexel University, the Museum of Contemporary Art-Georgia, The National Black Arts Festival, Indie Grits, Blackstar Film Festival, Pan African Film Festival, Africa in the Picture, the Columbia Museum of Art and many more. She has published work in the 2018 release, MFON: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora and in 2017, she self-published a memoir entitled Of Grace and Moons: The Making of Grace. Roni is currently working to accomplish two creative milestones: her first book of poetry as well as a photography book. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and film festivals across the country and internationally including Spelman Museum, Leonard Pearlstein, MOCA GA, Blackstar Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, The Barnes Foundation, and the Columbia Museum of Art. Roni’s photography was published in the 2018 release, MFON: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora and in 2017, she self-published a memoir entitled Of Grace and Moons: The Making of Grace. Roni recently celebrated her first solo photography and video exhibition, Solace, at the Sumter County Gallery of Art. A multi-hyphenate on a production set, Roni has produced, written and edited for both long and short form broadcast projects, as well as concert films and multi-channel projection installations. Roni is a 2025 recipient of the Mellon Monuments Fellowship through Wideman-Davis Dance, and is developing a multi-channel projection and performance work entitled, Quiet Storm w/ Roni Love, a storytelling/live radio show performance premiering in the Spring of 2025. Roni is working to achieve 2 creative milestones currently: publishing her first book of poetry with photographs and producing her first comedy project.
