Ryan Cobourn (b. Wilmington, DE) is a painter based in the Bronx, NY. His gestural, abstract paintings pull from memory and experience, particularly time spent in nature. The imagery is always just out of reach—familiar, but never fully defined. Layers of creamy, viscous paint build up and break apart, shifting between agitation and tenderness, structure and dissolution. Cobourn's work is represented by Ann Connelly Fine Art, Bryant Street Gallery, Carrie Coleman Fine Art, Bee Street, and GUT Galleries. He holds an MFA from Indiana University and has been awarded grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Vermont Studio Center. He lives and works in New York City.
