Sébastien Chéramy (b. 1979, France) is a contemporary painter whose abstract work explores the intersections of matter, memory, and time. Trained in art history and formerly a stained-glass restorer, he brings together artisanal expertise and philosophical inquiry to develop a deeply embodied painting practice. His canvases, built through successive layers, evoke surfaces marked by erosion and transformation, functioning as palimpsests where gesture, texture, and silence convergeStructured into conceptual series such as Kairos, Inside the Void, Wabi Sabi, and Ubuntu, his work reflects on impermanence, imperfection, spirituality, and human connection. Working primarily with oil and acrylic, Chéramy employs scraping, layering, and subtle transparencies to create meditative compositions in which decay becomes a source of meaning and renewal. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous private and public collections.
