Although practiced in multiple mediums, Shae Hopkins’ true art form manifests in her sculptures and pottery. From a vase depicting a colorful coral reef, to a sculpture of a sea turtle on driftwood, her work is a vivid exploration of the natural world rendered in porcelain and stoneware. Shae employs a variety of techniques in her artistry, including hand sculpting, the pottery wheel and practicing sgraffito, all adding distinct depth and texture to her pieces. Shae views nature as an endless source of beauty and complexity, from sea life and animals, to the subtle interplay of natural formations. Shae intends for her art to both enhance the aesthetic of a space, as well as evoke fond memories for those who have experienced the beauty of the Keys.
