Sherri Carter is a resident of Montana and calls the Bitterroot Valley home. Her oil paintings are best described as “Contemporary Impressionism.” Her style combines influences from the Impressionist and Tonalist art movements with her intimate, beautifully toned scenes. Her poetic landscapes reveal a deep fondness for the outdoors, and viewers readily identify with the tranquility depicted in her paintings. They often feel the sun’s warmth on their skin and hear grasses blowing in the breeze, and are frequently captivated by the emotional qualities of her work. Her inspiration comes from nature, as she creates her initial ideas en plein air to capture a moment in time. The character of trees, old barns, fragrant meadows, and flowing streams motivate her passion for painting. Sherri has a background in design, and she received her fine art degree in San Francisco. She worked at top design firms in San Francisco and Washington, DC, before embarking on her fine art career. Sherri has received many regional and national awards for her work and enjoys traveling to interesting locations to paint including Italy, France and New Zealand.
